The conditions for activating the guarantee

It is on the basis of concern for detail and quality that Ernest Ménard has, for several decades, signed its furniture and guaranteed it for 10 years.  It is confident of the enthusiasm and skills of the company players and is the only French manufacturer to undertake this commitment to over this duration.

Furniture with the Ernest Ménard signature are guaranteed against hidden defects as provided for in law in accordance with the terms of Articles 1641 and those that follow in the French Civil Code.

Above and beyond this legal guarantee Ernest Ménard signed furniture, apart from chairs, are guaranteed for 10 years in the following manner:

You must activate this guarantee and the date of the start of the guarantee period is the date of delivery by the retailer.  Activation of this guarantee means that you were satisfied furniture when it was delivered.  The guarantee is only valid if it is activated within 30 days of delivery.

Any claim under the guarantee must be addressed to the retailer from which the furniture was purchased.

If there is a disagreement about the claim the company, Ernest Ménard, reserves the right to have an independent expert inspect the furniture to judge the proven responsibility for the problem encountered.

Wood is a living material which involves and requires maintenance to last.  Wood naturally has shades, grains and reticulations giving it its unique characteristics.
Without exception, the colour of all wood develops over time under the action of the ultraviolet rays in light.  There is no way of preventing this phenomenon, at most it can be delayed by incorporating anti-ultraviolet products into the varnish. 

. To be avoided:
- Exposing your furniture to direct source of strong heat (fireplace, heating, bay windows, etc.) because there is a risk that the wood will be worked.
- Exposing your furniture to direct light (sunshine or the moon) because there is a risk it will fade.  Note :  Remember to move ornaments and knickknacks to prevent the creation of rings (due to the action of the ultraviolet rays).
- Not looking after the furniture as recommended as it will not be properly protected.
- Using an inappropriate product.  NEVER use a product that has silicone in it or solvent products.

. To know / do:
- When putting in place, make sure the furniture is placed solidly on the  ground.  The top should be perfectly  level so that the doors and/or drawers function properly.
- Close doors with locks after use to prevent them warping.
- Protect the tops from hot plates and damp (vases, glasses, etc.).
- Adhere to the recommendation for upkeep.
- It is normal for the colour of table leaves protected from light not to change like the top:  this is a natural process.

. Excluded from your guarantee:

- Variations in colour due to excessive exposure to light (sun, moon, artificial light), caused by the position of the furniture.
- Abnormal wear or constraints.
- Distortions due to excessive heat or humidity.
- Inappropriate upkeep or not recommended upkeep.
- Deterioration by wood boring parasites.
- Chairs are excluded from the guarantee.
- Retouches or modifications made without written agreement from Ernest Menard
